Morbegno and Bassa Valtellina

THE GATES OF VALTELLINA

Located just a few kilometers from Lake Como, Morbegno is the heart of Bassa Valtellina, a magical region of natural beauties. Lying on the valley floor (262 meters above sea level) between Retiche and Orobie Alps, rich in history and art, artisan shops, Morbegno is a town that reserves several surprises for its visitors.

Morbegno is the Valtellina capital of good food and good living. In the old town centre there are wineries, inns and restaurants that celebrate the joy of life and the flavours of local products. The town is lively at all hours and throughout the year is animated by popular events. First and foremost are “Mostra del Bitto” (an internationally famous cheese produced in the Gerola and Albaredo valleys) and “Morbegno in Cantina” (where it is possible to taste wines produced on the terraced vineyards of the Alps).

Morbegno is at the centre of an area formed by promontories, mountains and valleys rich of history, culture and beautiful landscapes. Costiera dei Cech (this is how the Rhaetian side of the valley is called), Val Masino and Val di Mello, the Orobian Alps, the Bitto Valleys of Gerola and Albaredo and Val Tartano are crossed by many historical trails that, thanks to e-mobility, can now be enjoyed for mountain-bike excursions of all difficulties.

The Valtellina Ebike Festival is very proud to be hosted here and to represent a further development engine for the area and the mountain-bike movement.
